Update:
Hello everyone! My name is Favio Encinas and i'm Franco's dad. With the help of my caring uncle, Mario Encinas, we started this fundraising campaign to help change my son's health situation. My uncle Mario will be managing the funds and sending them to us outside of GoFundMe when the campaign is over. Thank you so much for all the help you are giving us.
Let me tell you the story about Franco Encinas Montero, my beloved son:
Let me tell you the story about Franco Encinas Montero, my beloved son:
Franquito (as his family calls him) is a beautiful 13-year-old boy from Bolivia. He dreams of studying art and photography when he grows up. He loves anime and is a fan of Leo Messi and soccer. He is the older brother of 3 and a good student at school. But above all, he is an invaluable treasure for his family.
In December of 2021, Franquito had to enter intensive care for 15 days when he suddenly started vomiting blood. After several tests, it was determined that he had a clot in a primary vein in his liver and had to undergo urgent surgery to avoid further complications. Unfortunately, this kind of procedure can't be performed in Bolivia, so he had to find a solution abroad. This news turned his family's life upside down since neither the Bolivian health system nor their insurance company covered this procedure. With great effort, they managed to obtain the resources to continue medical tests and perform the surgery in the neighboring country of Argentina, where they traveled carrying with them only their life savings and their hopes. Upon arriving, additional assessments of Franquito's condition revealed that it was even more complex than anticipated. His liver is severely compromised, and he requires a complete liver transplant. News that no family wants to receive.
Fortunately, both his father and mother are candidates to be liver donors. But after all the initial tests and interventions, his family savings have been depleted. They are now facing very costly surgery and treatments totaling around $80,000 USD. In addition, his family needs to stay in Argentina for 3 months after the procedure to monitor his recovery and must incur living expenses such as rent, transportation, and food. We hope to schedule the procedure by the beginning of March.
After many punctures, catheterizations, endoscopies, and spending the last couple of months in a hospital, Franquito continues inspiring his family with his smile and positive attitude. He needs you to move forward to a surgery that will give him the chance to live and continue to shine. Please help him to receive a new liver and a new future. His family and the doctors, who love and care for him deeply, will be eternally grateful.
