Help Frankus!
Donation protected
Hey everyone,
most of you know Frankus from “The Bubbas”, the famous internet dog metal band! We are fundraising for Frankus’ jaw surgery/dental procedure. Anything beyond the goal raised amount will 100% go to our local Etowah County Humane Society. We would really love to help cover adoption fees for some special kitties & doggies that are residing there now! Many of you have messaged us asking for ways to donate to help get Frankus’ back on the mic. We are super grateful for any & all help. ❤️
On the morning of November 29th, Frankus has just returned from going outside doing his normal morning business. Upon coming back in we noticed him acting really strange and in distress. We sat and checked him out noticing him cocking his head to the side and whimpering in pain. Our first reaction is that something was going on with his head, jaw, or a tooth. We gave him a piece of cheese just to see if he could eat it. He did but with a lot of trouble. He couldn’t bite down.
Our next step of action was to take him to the pet hospital in town to be checked out. They had to put him to sleep to do an x-ray. Once they saw the x-ray, they could see a clean break on the left side of his jaw. They told us that they would try and do surgery the following morning here in Gadsden so that it would be cheaper. Ultimately the veterinary later called us to let us know that they had discussed his situation and that he would need to be seen by an actual pet dental specialist.
On Tuesday morning, November 30th, Frankus was taken to the Pet Dental Association in Birmingham, Alabama. We had heard that the guy that does the surgeries has worked on tigers even, so we felt like Frankus was in safe hands. When we arrived the doctor was friendly and was very thorough on what they were going to have to do to get his jaw fixed. It wouldn’t be cheap but it was our only option. He told us he would need human x rays done to see in super detail on what had happened. We had just paid for x-rays to be done at his first visit but they weren’t good enough. Putting him down never crossed our minds. This is our first born son that we are talking about!
Frankus’ surgery went great and he was under for a couple of hours. Upon waking him, we could tell he was in a lot of pain. The doc mentioned that the break in the jaw had damaged 4 of his back teeth on the left side and he would need them removed when he came back to get the jaw wire removed. As far as we know he will only need one surgery done unless the doc decides he needs another one when we go back on December.
Please pray that his jaw is totally healed and no more procedures will have to be done. The vet said sometimes they get lucky with 1 surgery or 2 or 3. We are hoping it’s 1 and done.
