Fred and Mary Lou Bushby have been married for 46 years. They have 6 children and 15 grandchildren.

Mary Lou beat anal cancer ten years ago after undergoing chemo and radiation with MD Anderson. She was about to celebrate her decade in remission when she received a gut-wrenching diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. She has been to three oncologists, including two at Md. Anderson, and they still don’t know if it is gastrointestinal or gynecological, but whichever it is, they all agree it cannot be cured with chemotherapy or radiation.

So what do you do when you receive the worst diagnosis known to man? Well, if you're a Christ-follower you start with gratitude. Acknowledging that the Lord is God, He made us, and we are His. There is so much joy and hope in the knowledge that "my life is in you Lord, my hope is in you Lord" this is Mary Lou’s theme. What a gift to live in Jesus.

Fred and Mary Lou have exemplified life in Faith in Jesus all the days I have known them; they trust God's provision for their every need. These circumstances are no exception; the financial burden for co-pays is great, and they have already, in testing alone, exceeded 8K. Mary Lou has also retired from her job to focus on her health and wellness. So her only source of income is her social security. There will be more expenses to come even without chemo and radiation.

She is pursuing health and believing for more life to the fullest here on this earth. She has begun an at-home holistic treatment, which also adds a monthly financial challenge.
