Help Fred Beat Cancer!

This is Fred. Most pet owners say this about their dogs, but he is the sweetest, friendliest, cutest, and most fashionable dog on the planet. Fred was found on the streets of Puerto Rico when he was about 1 and a half years old, malnourished, scared, heartworm-positive, and with his own puppies. We fell in love with him and took him home in June of 2020 and he made that dumpster fire of a year instantly better. Despite his hard beginnings, Fred is so friendly, calm, and unbelievably well-mannered. He still doesn't know what sit means, and yet he is so smart that we have barely had to train him.

Fred couldn't be around other dogs while he was still heartworm positive, even though all he wanted to do in the world is play with every other dog he came across, but we had to tell him no, until he finished his treatment. Unfortunately, once he finished his treatment, Fred started bleeding from his penis (hence the diaper, which he absolutely hates), and that is when we found out he has a cancer called Transmissible Venereal Tumor disease, one of the only types of transmissable tumors in all mammals. Since he has a transmissible cancer, Fred once again has to keep his distance from other dogs. We hate having to keep Fred away from making friends, and Fred certainly hates wearing a diaper everyday.

Fred's prognosis with treatment is excellent - most dogs make a full recovery. But of course, no pet owner gets a dog thinking they will need to have thousands and thousands of dollars saved within the first year to take care of any problems. We want to give Fred a normal life, let him play with other dogs, and let him walk around without a diaper on, but we will need your help.

Fred will need a full check-up including scans, biopsies, and x-rays, followed by 7-8 weeks of weekly bloodwork, chemo, and other medication and monitoring, and unfortunately we do not have the means to do it ourselves. Please consider contributing any amount you can, and know that Becca, myself, and Fred would be so grateful to you for helping us give him the life all dogs deserve.
Thank you!!!
