Help Karen and Fred Clark Begin Again.
Donation protected
Karen and Fred are native Angelenos who grew up on the West side. They met when they both worked at the Pelican’s Nest in Santa Monica. They raised their 2 kids Ben and Carly, in the Pacific Palisades and then Sunset Mesa in Malibu. They have lived in Sunset Mesa for the past 20 years.
They left their house on Tuesday January 7th thinking they’d return home once the evacuation notice was lifted. The devastation of losing your home and all the memory-linked contents is unfathomable. Now they only have what little they brought for what they thought was a few nights stay.
It's a huge task to navigate through everything that has to be done to receive assistance. With all their paperwork burned up in the fires, remembering everything they lost just adds to the sorrow. And of course, they have immediate needs like, clothing, food and daily essentials. Every donation will go towards helping them transition into their new life.
Fred, who is a Principal Geologist for Apex Co. was looking forward to retiring this year. Karen works for a nonprofit (Proxy Parent) that helps the families of Special Needs children. They are both loving and giving people who are active in the community and always there for others. My name is Jane, and I am personally writing this because 10 years ago when I was recovering from a near death experience, Karen was there for me 24/7 for the long haul. Supporting me in every way. Knowing I wasn’t alone in my battle made all the difference. Karen, Fred, Ben and Carly are my family. Our kids grew up together like siblings. It's our turn to help them in any way we can.
I know there are many in need from the fires. Any amount will help. Please know that it is not just monetary support, but also emotional support. Knowing that people care in times like these is what helps the healing begin.
Thank you for giving what you can.
