2021 Plans for The Freelance Coalition for Developing Countries
When I started copywriting, I didn’t have anyone to guide me on how to become better, charge more, or scale quickly. I under-priced my services, worked too many hours, and stayed at the bottom for longer than I should have. Heck, I was writing 5k words daily. Gradually, I experienced pain in my fingers, neck, and back from working all the time. It was brutal and nobody should have to suffer a similar scenario to make ends meet.
The beauty of learning lessons the hard way is that others after you don’t have to.
I see a lot of copywriters in Nigeria and other developing countries with potential but they have no one to help them reach their full capabilities. They aren’t earning enough to pay for training or coaches.
I’d love to mentor people and all, but I can’t do it alone. I don’t have the time and even if I did, I’m just one person.
This is why I started an Initiative, the Freelance Coalition for Developing Countries. A place where we can all pitch in to build something sustainable.
This year, positions were limited to copywriting, but in 2021, every freelancer irrespective of their niche will be able to take advantage of the program. I’m talking about digital marketing, SEO, web developers, graphic designers, and more.
What Is the Freelance Coalition for Developing Countries (FCDC)?
It is an initiative that helps freelancers in developing countries to improve their skills, learn the business side of running a freelancing career, and scale at the right time.
People see freelancers from developing countries and automatically want to pay less for excellent quality. I want to close the gap in freelance earnings between developed and developing countries.
I want you to show them that they can do more, be more, and hold their hands through the process. The most exciting part for me is that freelancers in developing countries will never have to pay a dime for this program.
What Are the Benefits for Freelancers in Developing Countries?
Mentorship programs where experienced freelancers across all fields provide feedback and training for freelancers in developing countries.
Video and audio podcasts teaching important freelancing skills every week. We’ll bring in a guest to take over the screen and host a mini-masterclass on video. For the podcast, a successful expert will guide freelancers on how to manage the business side.
Opportunity to publish their work on the official website. They can add this to their portfolio and share it with potential clients.

I need about $15,000 to get this off the ground for the following reasons:
1. An official website with logo, design, and copy
2. Two permanent staff and one developer on call
3. Production equipment
4. Running cost, etc.
We need consistent cash flow to be able to sustain this program long term. Even after we’re functional, we still have to pay staff monthly.

Talk About Your Experience on Social Media
Did you donate time or receive support? Please make a video or a post on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter talking about your experience. What did you learn from your mentor? How are you better off joining the program? Would you recommend it to your colleagues? Your story encourages others to donate time or (and) money.
What Do You Get for Donating Money?
You will be featured on our website as a donor of the month, week(s), or day. This depends on the amount of your donation.
1. $5,000 donation earns you a donor of the month logo with an opportunity to showcase your business to the world.
2. $4,000 donation earns you a three-week spot as a donor of the week
3. $3,000 donation earns you a two-week spot as a donor of the week
4. $2,000 donation earns you one week spot as a donor of the week
We’ll also have a donor page where everyone who donates under $2,000 will be featured.
I’ve known what it’s like to scrape the bottom of the barrel for work. I’ve experienced crippling fear at the thought of going months without income and overworking myself to make ends meet. We can change the scenario for others on the way.
