Help Freya Walk Again: Urgent Cruciate Ligament Surgery

Dear Friends, family, and kind strangers,

I’m reaching out today with a heartfelt plea for help. As of last night my sister's beloved dog, Freya, is unable to walk and in desperate need of cruciate ligament surgery on both of her hind legs. Without this surgery, Freya will not be able to walk again without the use of a wheelchair.

Freya, (or ‘Her Royal Highness’, as she’s fondly called in the MacKinnon household) was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, early onset arthritis and a ruptured left cranial cruciate ligament at 9 months old and was scheduled for surgery on August 2nd. She is currently 13 months old and as of last night has also ruptured her right cranial cruciate ligament and is in urgent need of surgery. She is unable to weight bear on her hind end and requires pain medication and 24/7 watch until surgery.

She has brought so much joy, love, and companionship into our lives. Her playful spirit and puppy-like energy have always been a source of happiness for us. Seeing her in pain and unable to move is heartbreaking.

This condition is painful and requires urgent surgery to repair. Without it, Freya will not be able to regain her mobility.

The cost of the surgery is substantial, and unfortunately, it's beyond what we can afford on our own. The estimated cost for surgery on just one leg is $5,200. This includes the surgery itself and medications and tools needed to help Freya recover and regain her strength.
