Indonesia COVID-19 Relief

Donation protected

Hi friends,

Indonesia is currently struggling with a wide-spreading coronavirus, and your help - no amount too small - would go a long way

While we all have experienced the impact of coronavirus - one way or another - in our lives, our friends,  families, and communities in Indonesia are currently experiencing one of the worst-case situations.

Home to about 270 million people, Indonesia is the new epicenter for the pandemic in the world, surpassing India, U.K, and Brazil to become the country with the world's highest count of new infections as of 18 July 2021 as the highly contagious delta variant spreads rampantly. Unfortunately, only 5.5% of Indonesia's population has been fully vaccinated - leaving many to remain vulnerable to catching, spreading, and falling victim to the virus. More than 1,000 people are dying every single day from the virus across the country.

Behind numbers and statistics are real names, faces, and stories of loss and desperation. For the past couple of weeks, we have been waking up and going to bed every day hearing the news that someone we know or their loved ones had just passed away from the virus. A dear friend's mother, father, in-laws, uncle; a college friend;  an ex-colleague. Pregnant mothers and babies are dyingchildren are being orphaned.

In some regions, the virus has pushed Indonesia's medical system past its limits. In Jakarta, most hospitals have run out of beds and spaces to treat sick people. Many infected people now have no choice but to treat themselves at home. We have personally heard way too many tragic cases of infected people dying due to logistical and operational issues in getting the proper care needed: no or delayed access to oxygen, no proper healthcare guidance for those who are self-isolating, and many other heartbreaking reasons.

While the national and local governments and organizations are doing their best to manage the situation, resources and funds are running low and likely insufficient to cover pressing needs to stop the spread of the virus and provide proper care for those who are infected.

We are asking for you to help us! We will directly and immediately channel the funds to our friends on the ground and trusted NGOs (e.g., Dompet Dhuafa ) in Indonesia and help cover some of these needs, in particular:
- Oxygen concentrators
- Healthcare supplies for infected and self-isolating low-income families
- Vitamins and supplements for frontline healthcare workers. Many of them are risking infections as they work tirelessly under dire conditions.
- Basic supplies for PUSKESMAS (community health clinics) to be able to vaccinate more people faster

Any help that you can offer is greatly appreciated and could truly help a person's life. Also, if you have access to a vaccine but have not gotten vaccinated yet, please consider getting it as soon as possible. We all need to look out for one another. Thank you!
