Help Frontline Nurse Jaydel Get Home to Aus

As a Registered Nurse, I have spent the last 12 months on the frontline of the NHS, working to do my part and help with the fight against this pandemic. Now, it is my turn to ask for help. COVID-19 has undoubtedly caused a lot of fear, anxiety and heartache for people all over the world in a variety of different ways. Personally, when boarding a flight to London in February 2020, I had no idea what the next 12 months would bring as I commenced my new job as a Registered Nurse in the NHS – leaving behind my entire support network of friends, family and my partner back in Australia. This has been one of the hardest things I have had to do and slowly but surely, the horrible effects of being a brand new Australian expat living isolated half-way around the world amid a global pandemic have begun to take their toll, both physically and mentally. It is now that I realise that I need to return to Australia as soon as possible to allow myself to reunite with the support that I need at this unprecedented and scary time. I am desperately attempting to secure a flight back to Australia. However, coupled with the inbound passenger limits into Australia, and frequently changing availability and cancellations, prices for these flights are extortionate – looking upwards of £7000 for an economy ticket for the next available flights. I have registered with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade for their QANTAS repartition flights however again, these flights are in extremely high demand, with thousands of Australians also fighting to return home. As a Registered Nurse, I work tirelessly to provide care, support and compassion to my patients. I now am putting myself out here, real and raw, to share that I now need your assistance. Any donations you provide would be assisting me directly to securing a ticket back to my home in Perth, Western Australia and to reunite with my beloved partner, family and friends. Thank you so much, and I hope everyone is staying safe and well -- Jaydel Pallace
