Help Frontline Worker Abby Recover

Our dear friend Abby, a NYC COVID ICU Nurse since March 2020, slipped in her bathroom and her foot went through unsecured tile on February 18, 2021. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she received twenty stitches. But this was just the beginning, Abby completely severed her Achilles' tendon along with two others, making it impossible for her to flex her toes. She also severed a nerve bundle and nicked the artery. The injury was so severe, to have a chance to regain sensation/movement of her foot, the surgery required a foot and ankle specialist along with a micro surgeon. The mirco surgeon is NOT covered by insurance. Her union disability pays less than $400 every two weeks. She is currently unable to put any weight on her foot. If all goes well, 6 weeks after surgery, she will be able to transition to a boot; however, she is still unable to return to work in a boot. She is considered a fall risk.
Due to the accident, she needs to move out of her fourth floor walk up. She is unable to go up and down stairs by herself safely. Medical costs, moving cost, a dog walker for Luci, and the inability to work adds up quickly. I don’t know her exact needs, but one can imagine that this is going to be expensive.
While Abby is not one to ask for help, she is the first one to offer when others are in need. If you are able to give in any way, thank you.
