Help Fulfill Javier's Dream

Note: This fund raiser is for a 12-year-old boy, Javier Mora, afflicted with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, who lives in Costa Rica.

Goal: To grant Javier's wish to see the US and Disneyland with his Mom, Mercedes.

BACKGROUNG STORY - AKA, WHY I CARE

Mercedes and Javier were instrumental in nursing a stray dog back to health in Costa Rica; that dog is now my little Goldie. 

I want to give back...

MERCEDES AND JAVIER

Mercedes Mora (on top of being a savior to animals), also has a young son named Javier.

Javier is afflicted with a severe muscular disease (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) that makes it very difficult to walk; he is rarely outside of his wheelchair these days. His muscles seem to have a mind of their own.

When he was diagnosed at the tender age of 2, Javier's estimated life expectancy was just 12 years. And, Javier just turned 12.

Javier, being of very sound and very intelligent mind, has faced struggles all his life. In his earlier years, Javier seemed like every other little boy, he could run, tussle with friends, and even ride a bicycle.

But, as he's aged, the disease has become more invasive to his small body.

Javier is now confined to a wheelchair for most of the days.  But, since Mercedes is such a doting, wonderful mother, the doctors recently updated his life expectancy to somewhere around 18. That was wonderful news!.

JAVIER'S DREAM - GOAL: DISNEYLAND!

Javier's only dream is to visit Disneyland in the U.S.

My dream is to help him achieve his dream.

In the interest of giving back to a mother and a child who were instrumental in my passion (animal rescue), I am starting this GoFundMe to raise money to cover the costs of this trip.

Here's a breakdown of costs as I see them. These are estimated costs for the trip:

Transportation to and from the airports (note: Costa Rica is not the easiest country to get around in. The country is gorgeous but the roads? Not so much....~300 USD
Flight for 2 to US from Costa Rica: ~1000 USD
Two 5-day passes to Disney: ~1000 USD
Hotel for 7 nights (handicapped accessible): ~2000 USD
Food and spending money for two: ~1000 USD
Electric wheelchair rental at Disney: 500

Any extra money that is donated will be turned over to Charlie's Fund , a charity which has been instrumental in finding ways to fight this horrible disease.

And, friends, I'm asking for your help. Please consider donating to this very worthwhile cause.

We NEED to make this trip happen.

If all goes well, we hope to bring both Mercedes and Javier to California sometime in October, 2018.
