Fund Auntie's: A Venue Owned By Womxn Of Color

With the recent uprising ignited from the murder of George Floyd combined with accusations of abuse in the music community, the need for a safe space is evident and urgent. Lady Midnight, Sophia Eris, & DJ Keezy will address this need by opening up a professional music venue owned by womxn of color in Minneapolis called Auntie’s. 

Auntie’s will be a venue owned by womxn of color rooted in radical freedom of expression without judgement. Leading with loving accountability, it will provide a safe space that presents performance, fosters healing, and provides professional knowledge. Highlighting powerful femininity, Auntie’s welcomes people of any age, race, gender, or sexual orientation to leave our space feeling empowered, inspired, and supported.

In order to control our narratives we must establish ourselves as an equal platform for artistic expression. With your support we will be able to purchase and renovate property, purchase necessary licenses and permits, train and pay our staff, and market ourselves in the strongest way possible. In addition, we will also use funds to bring in professionals from the entertainment industry, mental health fields, sexual abuse agencies and community members to help us create a business model reflective of our values and mission. Auntie’s values are respect, safety, supporting the most unheard voices, fostering self-discovery, loving accountability, delivering quality presentation, and inspiring equitable change while centering womxn of color and those who identify as non-binary.
