Help fund a new CRRU rescue boat
Make a difference by supporting a GREAT cause! We are raising money for Cetacean Research & Rescue Unit (CRRU) and any donation will make a life-saving impact for whales and dolphins in Scotland <3
CRRU are currently seeking funding towards an additional rescue boat for their life-saving work with whales and dolphins in Scotland. Specifically, they are looking to fund a 6 metre Humber Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) with 140 hp outboard engine and trailer (to the value of approx. £45,000) for rapid deployment during a live-stranded whale or dolphin incident. In addition to their larger 8 m RHIB, the smaller vessel will greatly enhance their ability to assist multiple casualties and/or simultaneous strandings in separate locations in Scotland. A whale or dolphin stranding is an emergency, in which speed of response and access to a casualty are the two most important factors in terms of a successful outcome. This sought-after equipment will facilitate greater flexibility in the CRRU’s current response to stranding events, allowing more efficient access to and retrieval of casualties in difficult to areas/isolated beaches. The need for this equipment has been evident for some time now, and the additional vessel will greatly enhance CRRU’s current activities.
Formed in 1997, CRRU is a small non-profit research organisation based in northeast Scotland dedicated to the welfare, conservation and protection of whales, dolphins and porpoises (cetaceans) through scientific investigation, environmental education, and the provision of a 24 hour veterinary service for sick, injured and stranded individuals.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to us! <3
