Can’t drive- what’s next?!
Donation protected
As some of you already know my cancer has recently progressed to my brain. Found out just this week. It’s very early days and lots of decisions being made still. There are about 9 tumours scattered around my cerebellum and the layer around it on both the left and right.
Obviously this is very scary but I should be starting with treatment in a few weeks once the steroids have reduced the swelling and pain. I’ll never be cured of this, it’s all about symptom management and keeping things at bay.
This has brought about many lifestyle changes, the main one being I’m never allowed to drive again, which is horrendous as I’ve always been fiercely independent, driving wherever and whenever, sometimes too fast but definitely confidently.
In light of this I am hoping to get an ebike so I can get about and keep up with the kids a bit. Both kids are doing ok but one of their main worries is not having a car anymore and not being able to get places and I certainly don’t have the energy to ride my normal bike currently.
It was going to be a mobility scooter but we’re not there yet!
I had planned to raise money for a charity but they have asked me to do it to get a bike for myself.
I am against pointless head shaves (apologies to anyone who has done one) but in return I’ll be having my hair cropped on Thursday. I kept hold of most of it through my last chemo by scalp cooling but whatever they do now it will be patchy at best so I’m taking control and it’s going.
I appreciate every penny people wish to donate and feel a little self indulgent but, well, I’ve got lots of shit going on!!
Thanks
Emily
