Help Fund an NYU Black Student Collective
Donation protected
Hello lovely people,
We are Black Violets, a passionate student-led collective wanting to make significant changes on NYU's campus to celebrate Black culture, create community among Black students in the city, and champion comprehensive Black inclusion.
We started with a petition to designate floors in NYU residence halls for Black students to connect and room together. So far, that petition has gathered over 1000 signatures.
Our peers responded by sharing their experiences of racism within residence halls, loneliness in classrooms, and joy sparked by friendship and fellowship with other Black students. These responses to our petition encouraged us to push our advocacy forward by creating a student collective and adjoining website.
The Black Violets website will be a hub for Black students at NYU (and other schools in the city) to connect with one another and find resources relating to their unique experiences and needs.
The site will include: wellness resources, Black media recommendations, steps to report bias incidents, Black businesses in NYC, and much more!
We are currently seeking funds to:
1. Build out our website
2. Cover our domain and hosting fees
3. Curate some incredible virtual events and merchandise to kick off our launch
All donations are welcome. No amount is too small! We truly appreciate every supporter willing to contribute.
If you are unable to support Black Violets financially, please promote our petition here or give us a follow @blackvioletsnyu on Instagram and Twitter.
Much love,
Black Violets Team
