Help Coach Mac Fight Aggressive Cancer and Overcome the Odds
Donation protected
We are updating Brian’s bio because so much has changed since we first started the GoFundMe in November. Brian McNamara, known to many as "Coach Mac", thought he was dealing with a sinus infection. After numerous tests, scans, and biopsies, he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of head and neck cancer: Nasopharyngeal Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma.
At 44 years old, Brian is a devoted husband and father to his children, two of whom are currently in college. For the past 23 years, he has been a dedicated history teacher at Brick High School, where he has also served as the defensive coordinator for most of his career. More recently, he worked as a defensive coach for the Freehold Township Football team.
The impact that Brian has had in the Brick and Freehold Township communities is nothing short of amazing. He has always been a source of support, inspiration, and kindness, and his dedication to others has touched countless lives. Now, as he faces this difficult battle, it’s our turn to support him.
Brian has completed 30 rounds of radiation, twice a day for 15 days, and 2 rounds of chemotherapy. He will need at least 3-4 more rounds as part of the ongoing fight. We are now entering the second phase of treatment, which will require travel to Texas for consultations with specialists at MD Anderson. Due to the rarity and aggressiveness of his cancer, getting multiple opinions is crucial, as this type of cancer is known to return even after initial treatment.
Your support will help cover the significant costs of travel, ongoing treatment, and lost wages during this challenging time. We are incredibly grateful for any assistance you can offer as we navigate this critical phase of his care. Thank you for being part of Brian’s journey and for standing with him, just as he has stood by so many in our communities.
