Hi everyone,

My name is Will Harvey and I am crowd funding to help save the Essex Dog Training Centre (EDTC) based in Brentwood Essex, who are currently facing a major funding crisis due to lack of revenue from dog training classes being cancelled over lockdown. The EDTC provide an incredibly important FREE OF CHARGE series of classes to children of all ages who have a debilitating fear of dogs (known as Cynophobia). We as a family experienced this with both our daughters and started attending classes as a family back in 2019 and still attend them now.

The classes are run FREE OF CHARGE by an amazing group of VOLUNTEERS and headed up by the incredible Roy Dyer MBE. Roy is known within dog circles for his 30 odd years of training and has worked with high profile celebrities and the Royal Family.

Roy and the the volunteers show amazing commitment to continue running these classes FREE OF CHARGE for the benefit of countless children and their families since it started. They are providing a community service which is now recognised within the medical profession and they now receive referrals from GP surgeries. Funds are at such a critical level now that the Centre as a facility, the normal dog training classes and the Cynophobia Sessions are under threat.

Roy continues to run the Centre and undertakes most of the work himself, including cleaning and maintenance, to save costs and he is in his late 70's. This can't continue and he and the Centre need urgent help financially.

The words below have come from Roy -

"CYNOPHOBIA ASSISTANCE DOGS UK, Was established in 1995 as part of the Essex Dog Training Centre. Both groups are totally voluntary run and are not for profit with ALL unpaid staff who do not claim expenses. Their role has been over many years assisting children in the UK and abroad between the ages of 4-16 years to overcome a completely debilitating morbid fear of dogs and other animals.

This recognised psychological condition creates a very restrictive lockdown on most normal behaviours for children and their families. A number of children attending are autistic or have other severe confidence issues. The group do not and have never charged any fees for the hugely important highly successful service and depend totally on donations to support the extensive running costs of the project.

This year because of the Covid situation donations have been virtually nil, which has created a situation of one of the volunteers helping to support running costs, but is now unable to continue to doing so, creating a possible situation of the group after 25 years ceasing to continue its important work , which will leave many hundreds of children in desperate need of this unique type of treatment."
