My Story
Hello everyone! Just wanted to give an update on my GO fund Me page. There is kindness and then there are kindnesses that restore your faith in humanity. I can’t thank all of you enough for your generous contributions! I am so close to my goal and am super excited to say that because of your generosity I’m now a proud owner of an amazing sound system that I can take on the road with me and can record on~ This is all because of you!!! I am also in the process of getting a much-needed keyboard! SO many of you have contributed to my page and many more that went outside of the Go Fund me to make sure I was reaching my goals! You know who you are!! I am truly blessed beyond belief!! In order to reach the finish line, I am asking one more kindness from you. Please share with your friends that you think might be interested. I still need $3000 in order to put this baby to rest! I’m sending along my summer schedule just in case you’re in the neighborhood. We are all traveling in uncharted waters and the gift of music seems to be effortlessly keeping us afloat! Once again, my heartfelt THANKS!!!

I LOVE YOU ALL AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BELIEVING IN ME!!!

Hello! My name is Dorothy Scott. I’ve been an active singer songwriter for the past 30 years. I've had the good fortune of having several of my songs in films. I've toured Sweden, Ireland, Canada and throughout the US. I started my musical career in Portland Maine and then moved to NYC where I lived and played music for 15 years. I honed in on my passion for playing live music in NYC in the East Village where I had a residency at Sin-e Cafe. This is where I played with an array of wonderful musicians, to name a few, Carole King, Jeff Buckley, Sinead O'Conner, Glen Hansard and many more. I've been a Door Co-based artist for the past 21 years and am proud to call Door County my home! I’m told that my live performances are passionate and real, fierce, and funny, outspoken, and vulnerable. Speaking of vulnerable, I need some help. It’s true that the pandemic has been a challenging time financially for most musicians, and really everyone on the entire planet. Because of the isolation during the pandemic, I found myself painting houses solo to supplement my income. I've never been afraid of hard work, but I truly wondered if I would ever get back into what I love most. Playing music! I’m humbled and proud to say that this past year has moved me into a new direction of hope and inspiration!!! I was just nominated as Performer of the Year (under Pop Music) by WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) and I’ve also had the good fortune to pair up with a group of some of the most amazing musicians you can imagine and started a new band called Dorothy Scott & the Peacekeepers. We have been well received by our audience members. The past year we have had 6 sold out shows and performed for some amazing charities!
Here is where I need your help. If you know me, you will know this is not easy for me. I'm throwing myself into your arms and it's a bit scary! Without giving you a 300 page dissertation on the ebbs and flows of the music business, my life, and some challenging struggles with being on the autistic spectrum and an annoying case of turrets, I'm just going to shine the brightest light that I can possibly shine onto some of my needs. AKA hopes and dreams. It's been over 10 years, since I've recorded. The musicians that I am now playing with are extraordinary in so many ways! We effortlessly speak the same musical language and I would love to record and make a new CD. Also, I need to replace my 21-year-old keyboard and 15 year old sound system so I can get back on the road. To add insult to injury, my 2011 Toyota needs crucial repairs! To all of you who have taken the time to read this I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your love, support, and contributions, big or small, mean the world to me!

I've had a front row seat into the gift of music since I was a young girl. My mom would be moving about the house doing motherly things and she would ask me to play the piano. I remember the feeling of trying to get the music to flow where it needed to, and at the same time tuning into my mother's mood to find just the right piece for her spirit. A natural performer? Maybe. Now many years later, I'm still very keen on staying connected to the music because I know without a doubt that music is a universal language that we can all understand!
