Help fund education for two children in Nepal

In 2022 my wife and I travelled to Nepal and while we were there we met a number of children who were not in school. We were surprised to discover that education is not free even for the poorest, and on top of the school fees the families have to find money for uniforms and books. For some families, this is just not possible and so the children miss out on the opportunities afforded through education.

Having grown up in a very poor environment myself back in the UK, I understand on a personal level the importance of education for a child. Not only does it provide opportunities to escape from poverty, it also provides social interaction each day which is essential to childhood development. There are many other benefits of education which I don't need to point out here.

The heartbreaking thing is that the amount of money required to help these children go to school is not huge. For the whole year it is less than $400 USD for one child.

My wife Caroline and I have already committed to helping one of the families ourselves, but we would love your help to support Kamana to send Ushikya Tirpathi to school (her daughter). They have no father to bring money from employment, and only one milking buffalo to help provide for them. Kamana cannot afford to send both of her children to school - and at the moment this year she will send neither.

Through local Nepali Bishnu, the homestay host we stayed with in Nepal, we can send this family money. 100% of the money will go directly to them, and Bishnu and his wife Laxmi will regularly update us with information about the children, school reports, and video updates which I can share with you all.

Any additional money raised above the $400 for Ushikya will go towards helping her brother. The remainder will be put aside for the next few years so that these children can finish their education.
