Help Fund Insurance for the Burning Basket Event

As the 21st annual Burning Basket build approaches, this year entitled GIVE - Basket of Remembrance & Unburdening, it will be a celebration of what has become a Homer autumnal tradition of community supported, volunteer dependent, weather affected labor of art & love.

A large intricately woven basket sculpture is built at Mariner Park and is a gift to all inviting public participation to decorate it as a memorial to departed community members and loved ones and personal poetic sentiments. Written burdens of the heart, gratitude, and manifestation may be tucked inside. At sundown the basket is ignited and burned as a performance of fire-art to symbolically disperse our collective positive intentions. Drumming and fire-spinning, also. The event, attended by hundreds, is a free, no alcohol event.

The special event permit from the city of Homer requires event insurance. The cost for the policy is $800.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the cost of insurance and an additional $200 to buy food for the builders/helpers who come to help during build week, and then lovingly GIVE this gift to the community.
