Help Fund Ivy's Service Dog

Donation protected
Hello! We're the Hale family and we're trying to raise money for a psychiatric service dog for our 17 year old daughter, Ivy.

Early last year our daughter Ivy was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder, severe depression and obsessive compulsion disorder which has lead to other self-destructive behaviors.   The things we do on a day to day basis are a major challange to her. Talking with friends over Zoom, running to the store, or just making a phone call often end in failed plans. This in turn leads to feeling of worthlessness and deep depression and increased compulsions from the OCD.

This battle has taken a toll on her. Three times since May, Ivy has been admitted to an adolescent physciatric stabilization unit because of being suicidal.  She is tired of fighting and just wants peace.  Since her last visit, her whole treatment team are working hard to help her fight this battle, including her family.

After much research and talking with her treatment team, we came across psychiatric service dogs.  These amazing creatures can do so much for someone dealing with mental illnesses.  A trained psychiatric service animal will be able to respond to Ivy's moods and actions in a way that will help protect her and keep her from harm. It will also provide her with emotional support and confidence so that she can be more independant as a young adult.  We all felt this would be a perfect fit for Ivy and we were thrilled to find a dog trainer near us.  We are so excited to find out on Friday that Ivy has been approved to recieve a service animal through Pawsible Angels in Findlay, Ohio.

The funding we are looking for will help us to pay for the extensive training needed. The downpayment has already been made and things are moving forward. The search has begun to find the perfect furry friend for Ivy!  She is so very excited and knowing that she might have more freedom from her illnesses has had a great impact on her. She has hope and there's a little light starting to shine in her eyes.

We appreciate any help and donations given. Anyone who has dealt with any one of these illnesses knows how crippling it can truely be especially for a young adult just starting out on life.  Like any parent, we want her to be happy and enjoy life as much as possible and we're confident this service animal will be a big help!

Thanks for taking the time to read Ivy's story!
