Help Fund Jonathan's F Tuba to Support His Musical Career

Hello! My name is Jonathan Miller and although I am originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, I graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy where I studied Classical Tuba for my senior year under Thomas Riccobono. Playing Tuba is an incredibly expensive endeavor. I will be attending the Eastman School of Music this fall and to best take advantage of my studies and to have a career in music, I will need an F Tuba.

In order to have a career in music you need at least two Tubas. A CC Tuba and an F Tuba. We have purchased and are currently paying off the CC Tuba. However, due to our financial situation and the other high costs that come with being a Tuba player such as double the transportation costs of smaller instruments, we lack the funds to make the necessary step of buying an F tuba.

As previously stated, I am from St. Petersburg where I attended the Pinellas County Center for the Arts and studied under Harold Van Schaik. Here I was principal Tuba or section leader in all ensembles as well as the vice president of the Tri-M honors society and the Gibbs High School marching Band as well as volunteering at many events around Pinellas County. At Interlochen, I have had the honor of playing in many of the ensembles the school has to offer including the Wind Symphony, Orchestra and Brass Quintet. My brass quintet in particular was chosen to participate in many concerts and outside performances including a performance in Traverse City and a week-long tour in New York City. Almost all of which I performed on the F Tuba that the school lent to me this year.

Music is such an integral part of my life. My ultimate goal as a musician is to spread the joys of music to anyone willing to listen and having an F Tuba is an essential part of that as a Tuba player but unfortunately due to the Tuba being the largest and most expensive member of the Brass family and still paying off the first one after over a year, is impossible for my family to do. I hope you will consider supporting me.
