Help Fund Meals for our Homeless Neighbors in NYC!
Tax deductible
My name is Alec Black.
With your help, I plan to raise $500 for Broadway Community, Inc. because we provide food to neighbors who are down on their luck. I’ve been volunteering weekly at the Broadway Community Soup Kitchen for the past two years. Being on the autism spectrum, it has been difficult for me to find a job that I care about. I am grateful to Broadway Community for giving me the chance to do meaningful work. Many of the people we serve are homeless or can’t afford nutritious food. We provide them with delicious food, a sense of community, and a place to hang out. We count on donations to buy the food we cook.
I hope you will help me reach my goal. Even the smallest donation makes a big difference!!! Thank you!
Background
Broadway Community, Inc. is located in the Presbyterian Church on the corner of Broadway and West 114th Street in NYC. Their social services play a critical role in supporting people from the neighborhood who don’t have adequate shelter or food. Since its founding 42 years ago, the Broadway Community Soup Kitchen has provided meals. As a community-based organization, they truly depend on the generous support of friends and neighbors to sustain and deepen their work.
Featured in Broadway Community Newsletter
Alec was featured as an exemplary volunteer: “Since becoming one of our core volunteers, this remarkable young man has given us the gift of his time and has helped us prepare and distribute meals to our neighbors experiencing hunger and homelessness. Asked what one message he would most like to share with the world, Alec urges each of us to think more about giving than we do about receiving. Demonstrated by his consistency and enthusiasm, Alec is surely following his own advice -- and we are so fortunate to have him be a part of our volunteer family.”
