Help Fund Mozart's Osteosarcoma Treatment

This is Mozart, my beautiful 6 year old rescue greyhound. He came to me as a fearful, anxious 3 year old who found the world very overwhelming. Over the last few years he has truly began to shine and has become so much more confident and happy. He has been my guiding light, my inspiration and my amazing helper since starting my dog training business.

He has helped so many dogs with their reactivity issues, being a calm and neutral presence for dogs to be around. He was the driving force behind me choosing to specialise with greyhounds, teaching me so much about working with anxious dogs and the importance of patience and building a relationship on predictability and trust.

But now he is the one who needs help. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer that is tragically common in greyhounds. I'm not expecting miracles - the prognosis for this horrible disease is usually measured in months.

But I want to do everything I can to help him fight it. He's only 6 years old and is otherwise a healthy and happy dog! He has so much more life left to live!

After the CT scan showed that the cancer hadn't spread to his lungs or any other part of his body, we decided to give him the best chance of survival and long term quality of life with an amputation. This reduces the chances of further cancer spread, removes the painful bone cancer and reduces the chance of pathological fractures.

I felt confident in myself and my partner's ability to cover these costs with our pet insurance but Trupanion is now claiming Mozart's previous muscle soreness and arthritis is related to his cancer diagnoses and therefore a pre-existing condition. Even with letters from out vet stating very clearly that it is not a pre-existing condition, they're still not budging. This is a devastating blow and we are fighting it as hard as we can. But it means they're not going to cover us and we're already over 12k out of pocket.

We can only hope that we can still get some cover for this but in the meantime, we need your help. I know everyone is doing it tough right now but even a few dollars will help. Anything I can to give Mozart a chance at a good quality of life. Anything to cover the costs will help.

These funds will all go to Mozart's treatment - including paying off his CT scans, his amputation and his future ongoing chemotherapy, which has been quoted at another over six thousand dollars.
