We need your help more than ever, dear supporters and sorry that we have to ask in these times of difficulty and crisis for everyone.

They say that everyone is only 3 pay slips away from financial hot water and sadly there are limited support mechanisms in place to help people effectively.

Many of our pack recipients would never consider seeking support or funding, but that's were we come in - to help - to give dignity back and to supply the basic essentials for a home when people have nothing.

We have been supporting individuals & families across Glasgow for the last 23 years and dearly hope to continue with your support. From January 2024 - to date we have helped over 1000 people, (many of which are children in families).

Each pack contains over 60 (essential) items such as crockery, kettle, toaster, pots, pans, bedding, towels, toiletries and cleaning products. Many of these items are kindly donated by you, but some we also need to purchase new.

Starter packs are available by referral (from Housing Associations or partner organisations on confirmation of your new accommodation) and are for anybody experiencing poverty, often after being homeless, fleeing domestic situations, moving on from the forces, prison or care.

Our packs empower people to build a new life with dignity, ease their financial burden & promote re-use.

As a charity we have seen our costs rise exponentially in the past 12 months, this is due to the ongoing cost of living crisis, supplier costs rising, increases in minimum wage and national insurance contributions and utilities - we could go on.

The impact is a staggering £5k increase (per month/£60k per annum) that we are seeking to bridge.

We have applied for various grants and funding, but panels only meet quarterly and our need is immediate and urgent.

If you have found excellent quality toys and games, cool ornaments or quality clothing for kids or yourself in The Magpie's Nest , then help us to sustain these amazing community resources and keep on supporting our wee shops.

Without essential funding now, these amazing retail resources, your excellent donations and the packs may not exist.
