Help Fund Our Son's Spinal Surgery
Donation protected
Hello everyone! We are raising funds for our son, Daniel, to have spinal surgery on July 26th. Funds raised will go to the cost of surgery and physical therapy to follow. Thank you everyone who is following our story.
Back in March, Danny went in for a routine doctor's visit to get him ready for kindergarten. Upon talking with his doctor about some incontinence issues, she suggested that there might be something bigger at play. It was rare, she only sees one or two a year, but it sounded like he had a tethered cord. Danny has always suffered from leg pains, headaches, extreme fatigue, and incontinence, plus he had a sacral dimple, all symptoms of a tethered spinal cord. She referred us to the Boystown gastroenterologist to see a specialist. On June 7th, Danny had an MRI, blood work, a couple different scopes, and biopsies done. The gastroenterologist referred us to neurology, who confirmed the tethered cord within minutes. The only way to treat a tethered cord is to have spinal surgery. We are fortunate to have caught when Danny is 5 because there is a better, quicker chance of recovery. If left unchecked, it would lead to life-long battles for Danny.
Danny goes into surgery on July 26th. All money raised will go to the cost of surgery, medical procedures, and the physical therapy to follow. We would appreciate any thoughts, kind words, or prayers that you could give. We are told this is a very routine procedure with very low risk. All we hear is that our baby has to have surgery on his spine, and that is scary. Danny is the goodness that is in the world. He is sweet and kind to everyone, energetic, goofy, and very active. He wants to make the world laugh and brightens everyone's lives.
We will be updating this page every step of the way. Please keep coming back and checking on his recovery.
