Help Fund Saje's Top Surgery!

Hello friends!
My name is Saje (pronounced like the herb sage) and I am a non-binary, transgender queer Filipinx-American living in Long Beach, California. Long story short, my life has been a bumpy journey of self-discovery, but I am equal parts excited and terrified to share that I have made the decision to undergo Top Surgery. If you would like to help, please continue reading to learn more!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME –
One of my earliest memories was when I was five years old and I was shamed for taking my shirt off to swim. My cousin explained to me that it was not something girls did.
Fast-forward twenty-something years later, I am very much NOT a girl. And while a lot has changed from when I was first learning about gender to the confident(ish), proud queer person I am today, the discomfort I have with my chest persists (as a not-so-fun dysphoric reminder every time I look in the mirror).
While wearing binders has helped to a certain degree, I’ve reached a point in my life where top surgery is the next vital step for me.
THE SURGERY –
So… what is Top Surgery?
Top surgery is a gender-affirming surgical procedure to address gender dysphoria related to an individual’s chest, which in my case would be a bilateral mastectomy (aka double incision top surgery).

THE COST BREAKDOWN –
Appointment Deposit:
$500 (paid when securing surgery date, put toward surgery cost)
Surgery:
$7,200 ($6,700 after deposit)
Surgery Facility & Anesthesia Fee:
$3,100
Total Goal:
$10,300
HOW YOU CAN HELP –
For me to raise $10,300, I’m asking for your help. If you’re able to donate any amount, even a few dollars, I’d be so grateful. If you can’t afford to donate, please don’t feel pressured to! Instead, please consider sharing this campaign with family, friends, and across social media.
I hate that such a life-saving surgery costs thousands of dollars, especially without any help through insurance. Even if I don’t fully reach my goal, every dollar goes towards my out-of-pocket costs and alleviating the debt I will be in from this surgery.
With all that’s going on in the world, thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you in advance for any help at all. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves.
All the love - S
