Help Fund Sarah's Endometriosis Surgery

Hello and welcome to Sarah’s Go Fund Me page. My name is Meghan and I am writing on behalf of Sarah and her family.

After many years of battling unexplained pain and fatigue, Sarah was recently diagnosed with endometriosis, a reproductive disease that affects an estimated 1 in 10 women worldwide. Endometriosis causes painful lesions similar to the lining of the uterus to grow outside the uterus. It most often appears on the ovaries and Fallopian tubes, but has been found as far away from the uterus as the legs, lungs, and even in the brain.

For Sarah, this awful disease has led to a seemingly endless parade of urgent care and ER visits, blood tests, diagnostic scans, hormone therapies, and pain management trials. She has been seen by general practitioners, gynecologists, gastroenterologists, and surgeons. None have helped her and some have even made her situation worse. .

You see, despite the common occurrence of endometriosis, it remains poorly understood. Most doctors and surgeons do not possess the training and skill required to treat such a dynamic and invasive disease. This knowledge and skill gap most often results in a decade of medical gaslighting and misdiagnosis, leading to progressively worsening problems such as infertility, damage to the pelvic structures and organs, and more.

Thankfully, women like Sarah have hope. Specialists like Dr. Arrington at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, GA., devote their lives to helping women manage this difficult disease. However, due to lagging research, surgery with an endometriosis excision specialist is not covered by most insurance plans, making it prohibitively expensive.

But you can help!

Sarah is currently scheduled to have surgery this coming December. Until then, let us lift up this wonderful woman and her family, as they have done for so many of us. The last two years have been difficult for many of us, but most of us can dig a little deeper to help Sarah get the quality care that she, and every woman suffering from endometriosis, deserves.
