Help Fund Texan Abortions
Tax deductible
Texas has adopted the most restrictive abortion law in the nation. The law prohibits those who are pregnant from obtaining an abortion after six weeks.
According to data obtained by the National Survey of Family Growth, pregnant individuals under 20 years of age discovered their pregnancy at a mean of 6.6 weeks (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5269518/). By the time a person misses their period, signaling possible pregnancy, they could be five weeks pregnant, according to doctors. Under the law, a person would then have less than a week to recognize the pregnancy and make an appointment for a procedure.
In Texas, the majority of pregnant individuals will have missed the 6 weeks mark and would be unable to obtain care. Abortion is only obtainable after six weeks in Texas if the individual is facing a 'life-threatening or disabling medical emergency'. However, anyone who is found guilty of 'aiding and abetting' an abortion could be fined and lose their license. Thus, many doctors have said they are unable to intervene in complex pregnancies that have the potential to spin out of control (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/26/health/texas-abortion-law-risky-pregnancy.html).
The law does not have caveats for those who are impregnated by r*pe or assault. Thus, if a 10 year old child is r*ped by a brother or a father and impregnated, they would be forced to carryout a full term pregnancy if they could not afford to seek an abortion out of state.
Senate Bill 8 has nothing to do with a 'pro-life agenda'. Rather, it is a blatant infringement on the rights of those with a uterus and impacts 7 million individuals of childbearing age in the state.
I hope to raise a minimum of $7,000 to help at least 10 Texan individuals who cannot afford to seek out of state care fund their abortions. Please consider donating, as anything helps.
