Help Fund Top Surgery In A Hostile Country

This is David, I've set up this fundraiser for one of my best friends since he doesn't have the ability to do it himself because of his location. Since it's his story, the rest of this text is his direct message, with a little note from me at the end:

"Hi, this is Daniel, I'm trying to help raise money for lifesaving gender affirmation surgery for me and my closest person in life. This is set up by my friend, who lives in the US and is able to access the funds.

We are fundraising because we live in Russia, where in 2023 it became completely illegal to preform gender affirming surgery or handle any sort of affirming care with any medical provider, private or government.

The only way to get surgery is out of state and the price is $4,000 per person. Because of the exchange rates, that is an insane amount of money for two barely employed people in their 20s.

I know a lot of people nowadays are skeptical about russians but I am only 20 and have never had the chance to engage in my country's politics until it was too late. Now my entire existence is illegal under the latest law that proclaims LGTB people a "worldwide extremist movement". I wish i could move out but currently, that is not possible. So, I am doing the best I can with what i have.

Danny has in fact been politically engaged and trying to move Russia in a different direction for a long time, but doesn't really count it as political activity since a teenager couldn't do much. The adults messed things up and now his life and health are at risk despite his consistent position against the government's actions for years. It doesn't need to be much, but every bit counts towards his surgery, which would be life-saving.
