Help funding Brett's Funeral.

My name is Kelly and and we are sharing a story close to our hearts to help our family, Charlene, Tommy and Reiss, through this devastating time. They are a wonderful family and would never ask for help, so I wanted to do it for them.

Charlene, Tommy and Reiss have just lost their entire world on Mother's day!  Brett, a 38 year old husband and father to 2 boys, Tommy, aged 2, and Reiss, aged 16, sadly lost his battle with Sepsis on Mother's day 2023.

Charlene, his wife, had called 111 for advice, as he started to struggle to walk , and felt weak, along with some hallucinations.

Prior to this, he felt ill like he was coming down with something, then a spot appeared on his leg the next day, which spread, with swelling, but Brett still went to work, even though he felt ill, but he had to come home early. This was Brett all over though, he would carry on working, no matter how bad he felt and still do things for others.
He was advised to go to the hospital to be checked, via an appointment.

He was admitted to ICU as he had Sepsis, later verified as being caused by Necrotising Fasciitis ( Flesh eating bug) and Haemolytic Strep A. This infected his blood and the toxins caused multi organ failure.

The best option was to put him into an induced coma, and on kidney dialysis, to give him the best possible chance of surviving. At this point he was in a critical condition.

Following on from this, he then had 3 cardiac arrests, just because he had been touched/moved by the hospital staff. He was so fragile. He was on maximum medication to get his blood pressure up and increase the strength of his heart. One doctor said that he was the sickest patient they'd seen in ICU in the last five years, but each time he arrested, his heart restarted with less effort but damage had been done.

He made it through the night with no more cardiac arrests, and looked as though he was making progress, and after a couple of days, he was in a stable condition, although still critical and still with the odds stacked against him.

We felt slight relief, things were looking better and we were staying positive, thinking that he was going to be ok and would pull through.

They were pleased with his progress but he suddenly lost some blood, so he had a blood transfusion. Then, in the evening, they suddenly saw that his pupils had dilated, a massive clue that he had brain death!

Mother's Day, Sunday 19th March 2023

We were notified of the horrific news, and the brain damage was verified by a CT scan, which he managed to survive. This was the devastating news that we all feared, that it was the end of the road for Brett, a selfless young man with a pure heart, and a wife and children who needed him.
We lost our Son, Father, Husband, Brother, uncle, Cousin and friend on Mother's day!

With all of this in mind we would like to raise as much money as possible towards the cost of his funeral, as being so young, there was no plan or insurance in place.  This will hopefully take away some of the financial pressures they will now be facing to help make sure the next chapter is the happiest it can be, under the circumstances.

Please, if you could donate anything at all to support Charlene, Tommy and Reiss, at this devastating time, it would really help.

Thank you so much.
