Help fundraise for the 'Bus For George'!
On 30th December 2020, George Nkencho was fatally shot by the Gardai in front of his home. It was all over in 20 minutes: The Gardai quickly used lethal force, there was no professional negotiator for him while he was struggling with mental health issues, and there was a 4 second gap before the last shot by the garda who shot George at close range. This is in contrast with a recent incident where an armed man who shot two Gardai was arrested, not murdered.
Not only has the Gard responsible for George's death not been suspended upon investigation, but the GSOC investigation is lacking independence, transparency and public ownership and doesn't take into account key factors, such as class and race, that inevitably played a role in the shooting of George Nkencho.
On Mon 21st June, friends and family of George Nkencho have called for a protest at the opening Inquest into his murder.
To facilitate people from the community attending the protest, YARI (Youth Against Racism and Inequality) is organising a ‘Bus for George’ which will depart from Blanch Centre at 9am sharp to bring people to the RDS in Ballsbridge.
If you/your friends/family would like a space on the bus, please fill this form as soon as possible to guarantee a seat: https://tinyurl.com/p6nex3h4
Become an active builder of this protest of solidarity by sharing the info about the protest, about the bus and by helping fundraising for it!
