Help Gabby attend the NYLF Advanced Med Program!

Hello, My name is Gabriella Rodriguez ( Or Gabby for short) and I am currently a freshman at Classical High School. I have recently been selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: Advanced Medicine & Health Care. I was selected because of my  academic accomplishments and my interest in the field of medicine.

 

 The program would allow me to spend 10 days at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, alongside other high school students. By participating in this program, I will be able to gain hands-on experience in advanced medicine, medical school rotations, surgical practice, and the handling of real human organs. In addition, I will be able to engage in college-level case studies and earn college credit from George Mason University.

 I've wanted to work in the medical field since I was in fifth grade. I have always been fascinated by science and reading, and I have always loved helping people and spreading love and kindness. In the  fifth grade I decided I wanted to be a great pediatrician someday, which later changed in the eighth grade, when I saw a video of a trauma surgeon in the ER, working in a high-stress environment and knowing exactly what to do. At that point, I knew it was what I wanted to do in the future. People who need to go to the emergency department never expect to be there, and physicians make them feel better on what may be one of the worst days of their life.

 At my eighth-grade graduation, I received the Community Preparatory School Welsh Award for excellence in the sciences and a desire to go into medicine. Now that I'm in high school, I find biology and anatomy to be incredibly intriguing and astounding. I can't wait to one day be a trauma surgeon or emergency medicine doctor and make a difference in the world.

 

The tuition is $4,500 and is due by June 15, 2022 with $749 payments each month.. This includes classes, lectures, briefings, simulations, housing accommodations, two meals a day, course materials, including scrubs, workshop and lab fees, and college credit. Donating to this fund would be an excellent idea for a birthday or Christmas present for me and it would go a long way in alleviating some of the expenses for my family. This is a great opportunity that will mean the world to me and a world of a difference in my future. Whatever amount you can give will be greatly appreciated.
