Help Gabby through her brain stem bleeds recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Gabby, I'm 30 years. 3 years ago, what had started as a month-long headache turned into 3 bleeds in the brain stem in a period of 2 weeks. After 2 months in ICU and an extensive 10-hour brain surgery I got diagnosed with Locked in syndrome (only able to move my eyes), therefore, I have a tracheostomy and feeding tube.
After physical wounds (operation sites) were healed, I got transferred to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for Acute Rehabilitation, there I started getting movement back in my head and neck, my legs, arms sitting balance. I also began vocalizing and taking steps towards capping the trach so I wouldn't be on a mist all the time.
After Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, I was getting in home therapy, PT, Ot and Speach therapy. I continued getting stronger and getting more control over my head and sitting.
I started outpatient therapy after close to a year of in-home therapy.
I now have my regular therapy (which is not too helpful because they lack equipment for my kind of case) and go to a special kind of Gym, were they are specialized in SCI (spinal cord injuries) and TBI´s (Traumatic Brain Injuries) the gyms name is SCIFIT, they don't take insurance, therefore, we must pay 5000a month out of pocket. During the first two weeks of going to SCIFIT I started to stand up, lift my arms more, and beginning to take steps with assistance.
I know that with your help and my resilience I will get my life back. Thank you for your Donation
