Help Gabriel Continue His Studies at Berklee

Mi nombre es Gabriel Arvelo, nací en República Dominicana.

Soy un joven compositor de cine y pianista de 19 años. No fue hasta hace unos años, cuando tenía 17, que encontré mi pasión por contar historias a través de la música y poder expresar lo que quiero creando ideas musicales y juntándolas.

Siempre tengo en mente a todos los que me han estado apoyando y especialmente todo el apoyo de República Dominicana que tuve para poder llegar aquí en primer lugar. Desde el principio, he estado trabajando muy duro y tratando de estar presente en todas las oportunidades y esperando la oportunidad de obtener mayor beca de parte de la universidad. Todo se ve increíble en las redes sociales y videos musicales, publicaciones y viviendo el sueño, pero la verdad es que no puedo más. Incluso tuve que abandonar uno de mis semestres (Septiembre 2022) en algún momento y retrasarme de año escolar solo para trabajar los 7 días de la semana para obtener dinero para pagar el alquiler y la matrícula para el próximo semestre (Enero 2023). No importa cuántas horas más seguiré trabajando, simplemente no puedo pagar esto por mí mismo.

Tengo una beca muy baja con la universidad y la única forma en que fue posible llegar aquí fue gracias a la ayuda del primer año de todas las personas e instituciones de República Dominicana. He intentado todo lo que está mi alcance para obtener más y ninguno de esos planes resultó exitoso.

Si realmente crees en mi música, el mensaje y el potencial que llevo en mí, por favor ayúdame a llevar esta historia lejos compartiéndola y llegando a todas las personas dispuestas a ayudar. Estoy agradecido de cada uno de ustedes leyendo este mensaje.

Quiero seguir haciendo lo mejor que pueda y algún día poder brindar becas a las personas que las necesitan y seguir tocando a las personas con mi música contando historias.

My name is Gabriel Arvelo, born in the Dominican Republic.

I am a 19-year-old young Film Composer and Pianist. Not until a few years ago when I was 17, I found my passion for telling stories through music and being able to express what I want through creating musical ideas and putting them together.

I always have in mind everyone who has been supporting me and especially all the support from the Dominican Republic that I got to be able to get here in the first place. Since the very beginning, I've been working very very hard and trying to be present in all opportunities and waiting for the opportunity of getting Berklee to Higher my scholarship. It all looks amazing on social media and music videos, posts and living the dream, but the truth is that I can't any more. I even had to drop one of my semesters (Fall 2022) at some point and be delayed just to work 7 days a week to get money to afford rent and tuition for the upcoming semester (Spring 2023). Doesn't matter how many more hours I will keep working, I just can't afford this by myself.

I have a very low scholarship with the university and the only way it was possible to get here was because of the first year's aid of all Dominican Republic people and institutions. I have tried everything in my power to get more and non of those plans resulted to be successful. If you truly believe in my music, the message and the potential I carry in me, please help me get this story far and gain power by sharing it and reaching all people willing to help. I appreciate every single one of you who supports me.

I want to keep doing the best I can and one day be able to provide scholarships to people who need them and keep touching people with my music
