Help Galveston-Area Artist Daniel Leggett

Help Galveston area artist, Daniel Leggett as he recovers from exposure to a toxic chemical release

Who He Is: Daniel Leggett, artist, has poured so much into our Galveston-area art community over the past few years with his murals and wall art pieces. He is now in need of an outpouring of support from you as he recovers from exposure to a toxic chemical release.
What Happened: While driving to work to paint a mural in Galveston in December, Daniel drove past a Texas City refinery that had just moments earlier released toxic chemicals into the air. The release had not yet been reported to authorities and there was no warning to avoid travel in the area. A military Veteran, Daniel had previously been exposed to lung-damaging chemicals while on active military duty, but fought his way through those health issues to become the well-known and well-loved artist that he is today.
Why He Needs Your Support: Unfortunately, the recent exposure to toxic airborne chemicals has taken its toll on Daniel’s health, and he has been hospitalized
numerous times since the exposure. Most recently, this past week Daniel spent over a week in ICU, unable to breath well enough without oxygen support to be released from the hospital. Once he is released to go home, he will be on 24-hour home oxygen support for the foreseeable future; this severely limits his ability to paint murals.
Daniel’s main source of income is from the custom-painted murals seen across the Galveston County area. He is now reaching out to you with a humble request for your help while he recovers and regains his strength.
Where Your Contribution Goes:
- Studio Space: Paying the rent on the studio space where he both lives and works.
- Utilities: Keeping the lights on and the creative energy flowing.
- Household Expenses: Covering the costs of groceries and pet supplies for his beloved pups.
- Supplies: Covering costs of art supplies to ensure he can keep creating wall art at home while he recovers enough to go back to painting murals.
Daniel’s Promise to You:
This challenging chapter won't just be a personal comeback for Daniel; it will be an inspiration to others facing difficulties, especially for other disabled artists and military Veterans. It is his mission to turn this setback into a story of resilience and growth to inspire others.
How You Can Help:
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Together, let's give our support to Daniel and continue spreading the message that artistic self-expression is a superpower and that challenges can be turned into triumphs.
Share and Spread the Word:
Even if you can't contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your friends and family can make a world of difference. Let's come together and show the strength of our community and support one of our own!
Thank you for being a part of Daniel’s journey to recovery. Let's make this next chapter the best one yet!
