Help Gary and Amybeth Recover from Flood Damage
Donation protected
On Saturday morning, April 5th 2025, the Fourche Creek flooded and rose from 3ft to 21ft due to a series of flooding rains in Central Arkansas. This creek runs behind our house and we awoke at 8am on Saturday to flood water about to enter the lower floor of our home. We had less than 2 hours to move any valuables upstairs after water began running in through the walls. In spite of our efforts to place sandbags and pump water back out, we lost the battle and 18 inches of water flooded the entire downstairs portion of our home. This was enough water to inundate electrical outlets on walls, flood our furnace and ac, our water heater, and flood our washer and dryer. This water overtopped the city sewer system in our neighborhood and is considered class 3 waste water. Anything this flood water touched must be decontaminated or disposed of. We were able to save some items before they got wet but ended up losing furniture and appliances. Our entire downstairs has been gutted and flood recovery is underway. We have no power, heat/ac, or hot water at our house, and have been forced to live in a hotel for the last week while we pick up the pieces and deal with insurance. We have flood insurance and we have home owners insurance. This brings us to why we could use some help, the deductible for the flood insurance is $5,000 and only covers damage to the house, not contents. The deductible for our home owners is $2,400 and will only cover loss of use on the house, so hotel stays, meals, etc. Again no contents are covered as the damage was done by a flood. So, we are left with covering $7,400 of repairs and replacing items like our washer and dryer, beds, etc before insurance will pay a dime. We don't know the full extent of the bills we are facing at this point, so any help towards our goal would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Gary and Amybeth Driscoll
