Help Gary Bysouth's Path to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joanne and I am raising money on behalf of the Abbotsford Hospital OR team for Gary and Elaine Bysouth. Gary was riding his BMW motorcycle home from work on Wednesday, July 19th when he was struck and pinned under a pickup truck. He was rushed by Air Ambulance helicopter to Royal Columbian Hospital for emergency resuscitation and subsequent surgery. Gary has endured 8 plus hours of surgery thus far, and has sustained multiple injuries. He is in a medically induced coma.
Gary emigrated from the U.K. in his 20's, met and married his beautiful wife and settled in Abbotsford. He is a kind-hearted, hard-working husband and enjoys time with his family and friends. His passion for his BMW motorcycle took him on many rides with his friends. Gary works for Pacific Coast Heavy Truck in management and Elaine, Gary's wife has worked for Fraserhealth in our operating room keeping our well-oiled machine moving for over 20 years with the housekeeping department.
Between Gary and Elaine, health benefits are pretty limited and they need all the help they can get. Gary has a long recovery road ahead of him and financial strain has already begun. Elaine is at Gary's beside day and night, willing him strength. Please consider donating to help with expenses and ease their financial strain while Gary fights and recovers over the next many months. Thank you
July 24th Update:
Gary has been moved to stepdown and is heavily sedated.
July 26th Update:
Gary continues to make small steps forward. He has many injuries including bone, soft tissue, muscle and lungs. With all your contributions, Elaine can stay with Gary at this very difficult and distressing time. Recovery is going to be long, challenging and financially difficult. On behalf of Gary and Elaine's friends and family, I would like to thank all of the emergency personnel that attended the scene and the flight transfer team that saved Gary last Wednesday. Without your knowledge and expertise, Gary would not be here fighting to get well. Also, I would like to thank the emergency physicians, nurses and support staff at RCH who cared for Gary upon arrival to ER. Because of you all, Gary is with Elaine, receiving excellent care and fighting to heal.

Thank you to everyone for all your support.

Great news, Gary has been transferred to ARH. Saturday the 29th. He is now being followed by our orthopedic and medical departments. Gary is So relieved and happy to have Elaine by his side. Elaine is now able to be home for their beloved pet when family and friends cannot, and get to ARH much easier. Friends and family have been so helpful in getting Elaine to Gary while he spent the 11 days at RCH, thank you to you all.
Again, thank you to all donors for helping these two wonderful people. I have had a couple of emails from donors saying what a Great man Gary is, and that you could not meet two nicer people than Elaine and Gary.

Hey everybody. Thank you to everyone for donating! We are over half way there. So awesome. Elaine visits us in the OR since Gary has been moved. It’s an emotional rollercoaster for Elaine. Their whole life changed in the flash of a second. She is a resilient woman and showing great strength, advocating for Gary during this tumultuous time. Gary is fighting through this. Please share to your social media again or for the first time if you haven’t already. I have reached out to CTV to hopefully share the GFM on the news. That would help greatly. Take care everyone and thanks Again.
