Help Gary Casey on his road to Recovery
Donation protected
On Sunday 16th January, Gary Casey was involved in a freak accident while swimming in the ocean at Scarborough Beach. After diving into a wave he hit a shallow sand dune and sustained a serious spinal injury to his neck, fracturing 2 vertebrae, leaving him with life changing injuries to both his upper and lower limbs and rendering him unable to walk.
He has been well looked after by the Royal Perth Spinal team and is in the process of transitioning to the rehab facility at Fiona Stanley Hospital where he will undergo intensive physiotherapy and rehab over the coming months.
All of Gary’s immediate family are in Ireland and are in the process of making their way to Australia to support Gary over the coming months.
Gary has lived in Perth for the last 10 years and it has become a home from home for him, making many friends and connections along the way
Gary’s friends in Perth, Western Australia have set up this page to help Gary and his family on his road to recovery. Over the coming months there will be many changes to Gary’s life and our aim is to reduce the financial burden an injury like this places on a family. The funds raised will go directly to Gary and his family to assist them with the costs accrued over the coming months, including but not limited to his rehabilitation, home modifications, expenses related to flights and accommodation for family members.
