Help Gary Schichtel - aka Smo
UPDATE 8.4.21.... Gary was moved to a hospice home in Muskegon on Tuesday he was talking and very upbeat and said he liked the home. Sister brought him scripts pizza and some deep-fried mushrooms. Sometime during the evening or early morning it appears that he may have had a slight or mini-stroke . I showed up on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. he knew that I was there along with his mother and his sister. Like any hospital room it was somewhat chilly and I asked him if he wanted me to cover up his legs and wanted more blanket . He nodded and made a sound indicating yes. We all sat around talking to him and just being there spending time with them. Is breathing starting to get a little bit more difficult and at 5:15 p.m. Gary passed away . It was very unexpected . Thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family and I want to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart who has donated and sent messages and all the kind words about Gary. I know humans are born into this world with sin oh, and we're not perfect . But this guy was the closest thing to be in perfect. Never angry, always a great temperament and personality. Full of love happiness he was the best friend in the entire world . I miss my brother oh, I love my brother and I hope he knows how much you meant the world to me . Thank you
Alot of you know the face but maybe not his name.
We call him Smo... as "way to go smo", smoly, like goalie,(when we first forced him to dress up
in hockey gear).
If I was out shooting pool or having a drink, my bro was there.
Gary Schichtel is his name. Funny, sometimes quite guy until he knows ya. Mechanically inclined, always, I mean always doing things for others...
Gary and I have been friends since we were 12 years old.
Gary has worked 2 jobs or more at the same time for most of his entire life.
Gary has been also taking care of his mother since his father passed.
AND still has time to always help a friend in need and time...day or night.
I love my true friend and I need your help. Gary has CANCER.
Lung cancer. Cancer is in his lymph nodes and in other areas.
Today we found out he has a blood clot in his heart and it is believed the cancer mass
in his lung is a contributing factor. His is starting chemotherapy today.
It is believed there is not a cure for Gary, only chemo treatment to help reduce it.
Gary is in a position without any insurance, or saving. I have worked with several agencies to get him help, and will continue to do so. He has helped me in so many way over the years, he is kind, sweet and a damn great guy. He is my brother. PLEASE HELP ME WITH ANY MONETARY DONATION YOU CAN.. Please.
I want to do a fundraiser to make sure Gary and his mother has no financial worries...
Gary and I talked the other day about his bucket list. He has hopes to see a Tigers game and Lions game this years. Maybe a concert, go fishing and maybe just hit the rode for a road trip... Thank you. Darrin
