Imad Abdel Karim Abu Shamala and his wife Hiyam are from Gaza in the city of Rafah. They have three beautiful children, Tala 14, Lana 11, and Talin 9 years old.

Imad has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Services and Hiyam with a Bachelor's Degree in Basic Education and a Master's Degree in Curricula, Teaching Methods.

Imad and Hiyam had a wonderful life raising their children and had dreamed of a bright future ahead for their children. The girls especially loved going for ice cream and visitng parks on the weekend like most children and enjoyed horse-riding. The family had built a beautiful home that was always full of family and friends, often hosting dinner parties and always welcomed anyone with open hearts.

On October 7, the family's life took a tragic turn. Hiyam lost her job, and put the family's main source of income to a halt. Due to the bombardment from the occupation, they lost their home and 15 family members were martyrd. Imad had lost almost all of his childhood friends as well which left him utterly devastated. Imad and Hiyam have lost everything and have been displaced once too many the past five months.

Like many children in Gaza, their daughters became extremely fearful for their life as the bombs continued. Imad and Hiyam became very concerned for their children's mental health as well as Talin, who has type 1 diabetes.

Talin needs insulin daily before meals and it must be kept in a refrigerator to keep cool. Due to power outage the last five months, it is impossible to keep Talin's insulin cool resulting in inconsistent blood sugar measurment. In addition, her blood monitoring device is not available in the Gaza strip and must be obtained from the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mohandessin, Sudan Street, in Syria Pharmacy at Free Style Company. Due to closure by the occupation, the family is unable to cross the border to obtain critical life saving medical supplies for Talin. There are also no more hospitals or clinics left to treat patients with diabetes.

Due to lack of medical supplies for Talin, and continued bombardment by the occupation, the family has decided to evacuate to Arab Republic of Egypt to rebuild their new life. They are hoping to build a new home, put their daughters in school so they can continue their studies, and provide a better future for their children.

The family is very thankful and so appreciative of support to help them during this very difficult time in their life.
