WHO AM I?

I am Karam Abu Asaker, a human medicine student from the Gaza Strip. I aspire to be a successful orthopedic doctor and help the Palestinian community as a doctor and connect relationships between our community in Gaza and other communities from all over the world as a “diplomat” at work and carrying the message of the Gazan community to admire and live in dignity. In order to have completed the fourth year of my studies at this time But because of the war that began on the 7th of October, all my dreams were shattered, as our beautiful city “Gaza” was destroyed, and with it my university, the Islamic University, was destroyed to the point that it became unfit to continue working. In other words, this war led to massive destruction on the university campus and destroyed all the servers that serve the university. It also affected all the laboratories and devices that help improve our education. This means that the university will not operate for a very long time. In addition, it seems that returning as students to the Islamic University after the end of the war, even electronically at home, will require at least three years. This long period of time will be incredibly detrimental to our education, our work, and our lives as a whole.

I did not launch this campaign early because I was hoping that this war would end quickly, but after the war had continued for more than 6 months and there was no prospect of it ending at this moment, I had to reconsider. As for my current life in Gaza, it is one of uncertainty, with evacuation plans looming over our heads. My home, which is currently housing 8 displaced families, may soon be evacuated due to the threat of a ground invasion into Rafah. Your urgent assistance is vital in restoring my hope of getting out of Gaza and starting a new life in safety and peace.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Given the proposed ground military invasion of Rafah, the last resort for people to seek refuge, it has become necessary to consider leaving Gaza through the Rafah crossing. However, in order to leave the Rafah crossing, you currently have to pay US$5,000 per person. Then I will go to Turkey or Germany to study there in a suitable educational environment and realize my dream of becoming a distinguished orthopedic doctor.
