Help Gaza's Kids: Shoes, Food, and Safety
Donation protected
My name is Lani Braun. I am a Jewish woman, born and raised in Ecuador. Now, I am a Primary Care Doctor working in Florida, USA. A couple of months ago, I met the most amazing Palestinian children. I decided to make their lives a little more bearable and show them someone outside Palestine cares.
Tikkun Olam, "repairing the world," is a concept in Judaism that refers to various forms of action intended to repair and improve the world.
I’m raising funds to donate directly to children in Gaza. A few months ago, I watched a video that changed my life. It was about an 8-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy walking barefoot on the hot sand at the beach, trying to sell cookies made by their mother. The children were hungry but so responsible that they did not eat a single cookie so they could collect enough money to buy shoes, food, and hopefully, eventually, a tent to keep them safe from hungry dogs and insects.
I became friends with their mom, Rula, a wonderful woman who worked with Palestinian orphan children before the war.
I was able to raise money to get this family a tent to keep them cooler and safe at night. But now, Rula and I have bigger plans. According to Rula, when you save ONE person, you are saving mankind!
We want to help other children who are starving, who burn their little feet when they walk on the sand selling sweets, and who sleep unsafely and not only have to worry about the war but also about wandering hungry dogs.
According to Rula, there is some access to food and clothes, but unfortunately, because of the blockade, prices have skyrocketed, and almost no one can afford either.
We need around $20-30 per week per family to supply essentials like drinking water, eggs, sugar, flour, yeast, sauce, rice, pasta, and some fresh vegetables and fruits.
Part of this initiative is to get shoes for every single child of the families we sponsor.
Please donate what you can, and if you can’t, please share this link so we can help as many children as possible.
And remember Tikkun Olam: we should all take action to repair and improve the world!
