Help Gendersauce Produce Thicket!

Hi!
I’m Aleah Black, sometimes known as Gendersauce. I make memes on the internet. I also make theater. I’m a playwright, performer, and puppeteer in New York City. I’m making a show titled Thicket. It’s a new, full-length play full of puppets, music, strangeness, and mythology. It’s an interdisciplinary theater piece about queer love and the possibility of mercy. This past February 2022, with your help, I held a workshop of the show with an incredible constellation of humans. This spring, April 2023, I am directing and producing the show in New York City!
As a trans nonbinary playwright, I am invested in creating rehearsal spaces that are equitable and playful, and treating performers with autonomy and respect. I love my performers and I pay my performers. Queer and trans stories are difficult to fund in our current cultural artistic landscape-- so I'm turning to my community to help pay these amazing actors a livable wage.
By contributing to this campaign, you will be doing three things:
1. Ensuring the actors and musicians are paid a livable wage.
2. Ensuring we have enough for our rental of the theater.
3. Allowing us to purchase quality materials for our puppets, costumes, and props.
Artistic labor is valuable! Every dollar over our goal will go to producing this show and paying the amazing cast. We need to raise the entirety of our goal by March 31st in order to secure our rental and pay the cast/crew.
I will be posting introductions of the cast/crew as well as the link to our ticket sales over the next new months. I hope that many of you who have supported my work over the years can make it to the performance. It's going to be spectacular.
As the writer and director of this show, I will receive this campaign donations. I will be posting updates on how the money is used to my Instagram account @gendersauce and this campaign. Performers will be paid by check or money transfer, and everyone who donates will revive proof their money is going to pay these cast and crew members.
Thank you for helping us make art. Thank you for being here.
