Help Genevieve Ma'yet on Her Journey to a Better Future

Greetings, my name is Genevieve Ma’yet, and I appreciate you taking a moment to read my brief introduction. I am a small business owner, a transgender woman, and an astrophotographer.

The first time I came out was to my best friend at the time, who in a single night, told all my coworkers.

The next day, I quickly lost that job and when I spoke to my best friend at the time and asked if they told anyone, they responded with, “if I wanted to keep it a secret, I should not have told them.”

Yet, I keep moving forward even after losing a child in a divorce which nearly broke me, multiple family members, and at this point, it has been over 15-years since my father and I spoke.

So, after 19-years I moved from Texas fearing that my teacher certification would be revoked for being transgender, to Oregon. Like many, I thought of Portland as being a representative of the state and quickly had that bubble popped as I was repeatedly called an “it” and misgendered constantly by administrators. What I have discovered is that on the coast, transgender people are tolerated, and to the east, it is unwise and unsafe to travel.

I am tired of my equality, hope, and security disappearing each election cycle leaving me feeling lost and uncertain about my future while in this country. In the wake of this political shift, unpredictability and insecurity looms large, making it challenging to envision a future where the principles of equality, hope, and security are upheld and protected.

Therefore, I am seeking contributions to assist with the legal expenses required to obtain Italian citizenship.

Each donation will receive a reciprocating gesture since I have never been able to get without giving.

Pays for the procurement of important documents on my behalf, such as, birth, marriage, and death certificates from any of the 50 states or the federal government;

These must be obtained these in the official formats required by the Italian government and ready for Apostille certification; and,

Pays for the Apostille’s services which are for legal document authentication that is required by the Italian government;

The Apostille certifies that the translation is accurate and confirms the authenticity of documents from the United States to be submitted to the appropriate Italian consulate; and,

Pays for the cost of obtaining official copies birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce records, evidence of civil unions, death records, and death certificates that are located in Italy and the international shipping costs; and,

Pays for the first Italian dual citizenship step; obtaining naturalization records;

These documents are essential since they will support my application for Italian citizenship because I need to establish that these rights were not signed away;

Numerous individuals have shown interest in buying this artwork, but I now believe this is the most fitting opportunity for both the painting and painter to find a new home.
