Help George rebuild his home after the floods
After spending the last year recovering from cancer and major surgery, George Hodson's home has been utterly devastated by the flash flooding in Westminster on July 12th. George is a brave, proud, and resilient gay man of 72 who has lived with HIV since the early 80s. In that time, he's fought four separate cancers, lost the love of his life to complications from AIDs, and somehow, he has found the strength to cope and rebuild each time.
A key foundation for that strength has been having a place to call home, filled with memories and artwork and the tools he needed for self-care. However, on July 12th, George's street was devastated by flash flooding and his basement flat filled up with a mixture of floodwater and sewage. After enduring much trauma and some significant fighting, George is now temporarily housed as he begins the slow, arduous process of rebuilding and making-safe his home once more. Whilst his beloved Griffon dogs are staying with friends and being pampered, there is meager assistance for George from the local council, but it is neither timely nor sufficient.
Due to the water/sewage damage, George is essentially re-building his home from scratch. Whilst items such as his artwork (including that which he has created) can never be replaced, he would be so very grateful for any contributions, big or small, for him to furnish his home. He's lost appliances, furniture, and furnishings. Essentially, everything he needs to get by is in need of replacement. George has no family, beyond his close friends, neighbours and wider queer community. He could really use all the help we can muster.
