For Gerhan and His Mom: Let’s Help Them Heal

My good friend Gerhan "G" Buggs and his mom just lost their home in the devastating wildfires in Southern California. I work with G as the Key Grip on The Upshaws, and if you’ve had the pleasure of working with him, you know he’s the kind of person who lights up a set with his positivity and kindness.

G lived in Altadena with his mother, whom he lovingly takes care of. On the night of the fire, G’s first priority was making sure his loved ones were safe. He got his mom to safety and made sure his elderly neighbor was also taken care of—urging him to get dressed and promising to come back for him. G kept his promise, returning to pick up his neighbor after securing his mom at a friend’s house outside the evacuation zone.

Since that night, G has been juggling the enormous task of caring for his mother and neighbor, all while navigating the heartbreak of losing his home and belongings. Despite everything, he remains as selfless and compassionate as ever, but this loss has been emotionally hard on him.

I'm starting this GoFundMe to support Gerhan in rebuilding his life. G has always been there for others, often taking home leftover dinners from craft services for his neighbor. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.
