Help get Alyssa an Accessible vehicle

Help Alyssa get an accessible vehicle! Alyssa is a 11 yr old with cerebral palsy who uses a manual and electric wheelchair for transportation. Alyssa is not able to stand or walk independently. She’s been through 13 surgeries including reconstruction of her feet in 2021. While some improvements were made in positioning she never gained any functionality. Her hands after surgeries have actually decompensated worse. This is part of the reason during 2022 it was recommended she start utilizing an electric wheelchair where she would only have to try to manipulate one hand rather then using 2 in coordination with one another on a manual. As Alyssa grows it’s becoming increasingly difficult for her mom to transfer her in and out of cars to chairs for school, doctors, therapies, and activities. The electric wheelchair she obtained weighs over 400lbs. Mom attempted more than 3 ramps and modifications on the back of her suv for transportation. All have failed in being able to obtain the weight of the chair and transport it successfully. In the most recent attempt to modify a 96lb steel ramp slipped from moms grip and crushed her knee causing significant injury and rehabilitation. The only other option is a trailer off back which impedes where could access to park particularly at hospitals and other areas Alyssa frequents. Not to mention transferring her body would still be needed and loading and unloading strapping down and covering takes more than 20 min process each stop. Alyssa NEEDS a ACCESSIBLE wheelchair whether in her manual or electric chair, one she stays in to quickly access in and out of a vehicle. Pictured is a Alyssa in her manual chair her new electric chair and 2 examples of accessible vehicles. Accessible vehicles average a 30-40,000 increase in modifications to whatever the price of the vehicle is. Alyssa needs your help in obtaining part of these costs that her mom can’t afford in full. We humbly appreciate any help that can make this a reality.
