As we watched the forecast for peak flood level rise, our hearts fell at what would happen to the restaurant in which we put so much time, effort, and love...Betty Spaghetti. From the start, we wanted to become some place different and special where people came to have dinner with friends, enjoy a night out as a bride/groom party, or for a romantic marriage proposal. Now, many first time diners have become friends from around the country that return every year. Often, they remember our names and we remember theirs. Betty Spaghetti became the special place we wanted to create.
Betty Spaghetti took a terrible hit. In the aftermath of the flood, we had a choice of taking the insurance money and simply closing our doors or rebuilding. We chose rebuilding for the special place that's home for us.
With that, though, came the bracing discovery that insurance barely covers anything. We also found most grants and low interest loans don't apply to small businesses. And, as a resort town small business that relies on seasonal tourism, we are among the many Guerneville businesses that struggle through the winter off-season.
We are going to do everything possible to reopen to at least the state we were in before the recent flood, retain our hardworking and loyal staff, and reopen the doors to our special restaurant. That now includes opening up the option for people to donate to our efforts in finding the funds to compensate for all that insurance doesn't cover.
We hugely appreciate anything and everything anyone feels they might contribute. If a contribution isn't possible we still greatly value loving energy and well wishes as we strive to rebuild.
Thank you from all of us at Betty Spaghetti! We can not wait to get back to all the fun.
