Help get Daphnie a lawyer (Footscray miki assult victim)
Donation protected
Hi everyone! I am Everest, Daphnie Palomo’s partner.
Daphnie was the victim of a physical assault committed by Myki officers (also known as AO's) at Middle Footscray station on 14th January, around 3:30 pm. She was brutally assaulted by a group of 4 large men and 1 woman who identified themselves as Authorized Officers. They held her on the ground and were pulling all her limbs while she was crying for them to stop. She was pinned down by those so-called ‘officers’ for over an hour. Many other travellers were witness to this incident, and have taken photos which they have posted online. Later, when filing a report on her, the AOs claimed she was aggressive. But she was just a childcare educator going home after her shift. There is nothing she could have done that needed this level of violence to be used against her.
After Daphnie was released by them, the Myki officers continued to threaten her, saying they would take this to court and claiming she had scratched them during their assault. That evening, Daphnie had to go to the hospital due to the injuries that she had endured.
Even after this traumatic incident, Daphnie is willing to raise her voice and ask for justice regarding this matter, and for all other victims of Melbourne AOs’ seemingly unchecked abuse of power. Why should AO's, who are simply ticket collectors, be able to get away with using excessive force on an innocent member of the public?
This Gofundme account was created to help Daphnie to get an experienced lawyer and to cover the medical costs that she has endured for the time being. She is looking to raise voice against the power that AO's hold in the Metro on the behalf of everybody who has been affected or harassed by Myki officers.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated, as Daphnie, who is an innocent childcare educator, is taking this huge responsibility on her own shoulders - to remove the excessive powers of AO's and try to make public transport fares affordable for everybody.
